The spirit catches you and you fall down

After reading the book you will write a 2-3 page book report which will include the following:
a brief summary of the book (1-2 paragraphs)
2-3 things you learned from reading the book
1-2 intercultural communication theory concepts you saw in the book and why they are important, how they were misused or what went wrong.
a conclusion stating a criticism you have about the book

I expect you to use concepts you learned in the intercultural communication part of this class to enhance this paper. You will not earn an A on this assignment if you have not mentioned and identified intercultural communication theories we have learned in this class and how they relate to this book.

You will need to cite the book in this paper. Please use MLA format for your Works Cited page and in-paper citations.

The paper should be double-spaced, Times New Roman, 12pt font, with one-inch margins, and be a minimum of two full pages.

This paper should be turned in as a Word document or PDF file (pages, google docs, or other file types will not be accepted).

In the upper left hand corner, single spaced, provide your name, this class name, and the semester like this:
Jane Doe
CIP 200-006
Fall 2021

This paper needs a title that you think is appropriate.

Please save this as a Word document or PDF file with this name: FirstLast_BookReport (so, my report would say MeganLegerski_BookReport).

A few notes:
correct use of apostrophes is important. An s is used to show possession. If you want to talk about a house that the Lee family owns it is the Lees house. If you want to talk about more than more Lee it is Lees.
Look up the difference between their, theyre, and there and use them appropriately.
Proofread the paper for mistakes.
Capitalize all proper nouns. Names, cities, counties, etc.
The paper needs citations in the body of the paper (citing the book to support something) and a Works Cited page that gives the citation for the book. Rules for doing this using MLA formatting can be found here: https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/mla_style/mla_formatting_and_style_guide/mla_formatting_and_style_guide.html
Read the rubric and then write your paper. The rubric is a guide for what I am looking for.
Do not make your book summary too long. A summary is concise and touches on important points in the book. The summary is only 20% of the grade for this book report, and the book report can only be three pages long. Summaries include the ending of the book. It can be difficult to write in a concise manner, but give it some practice! Think about the most important points in the book and include them in the summary, but not all the extra, smaller things that make it a 300 page book.

The conclusion needs you to criticize the book in some way. After reading the entire book, spend some time thinking about the context, the way it was written, who wrote it, how the story was presented, etc. and think of an honest concern or criticism you have. Even if you loved the book take some time to think about these things and formulate an opinion.
