Write a 4-5 page argumentative essay in response to the question, was the decision to drop the atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima morally justified? Students should present an argument that draws on the moral theory we have discussed throughout the course and applies course terminology as appropriate. The response should present a logically rigorous and well-supported argument. The response must consider at least one plausible objection to the proposed view and the students rebuttal. Students will cite at least three different sources in their responses.
The essay should appropriately use course terminology, especially the key terms from the syllabus that is necessary for making your argument. It is especially important that you accurately characterize whether the issue at hand is a matter of jus in Bello morality or jus ad Bellum morality.
Whatever position you take up, explain your reasons for preferring that view.
Also, consider and present a possible objection to your view. How might a person criticize your view and how would you respond. This is a way of strengthening your argument.
