Each weekly reflection journal focuses on the assigned reading(s) and how they relate to other ideas in the field of counseling/family counseling. Each reflection journal is not to exceed two pages in length. The reflection journal may address clinical practice, systemic ideas, contrast other models of counseling, identify unanswered questions, and so forth. The purpose of these reflection journals is for you, the student, to demonstrate how you make sense of the reading(s), how the readings relate to other aspects of the learning process, your jobs, academic career, clinical experience, personal lives (relationships, family of origin, etc.), etc. Questions, confusions, inspirations, “aha moments”, disagreements, and other discursive stances are welcome in the reflection journals. The reflections journals are to follow the stylistic conventions set forth in the American Psychological Association’s Public Manual. Due to the reflective nature of this assignment, it is expected that appropriate personal disclosure is necessary and encouraged. Please do not include identifying information of others possibly mentioned in your writings. Reflection journals are only read and assessed by the professor and your confidentiality will be maintained.
