The Fairy tale Assignment

Assignment: For this paper, you will be analyzing influences in society and using your Aristotelian Rhetorical
Techniques to persuade the reader. You will select a fairy tale of your choice (other than Cinderella or Beauty
and the Beast because we will use these as examples in class). You might look at the role of family, money,
race, or some combination of issues.

In the end, try to answer the question:
Since a Fairy tales moral or message strongly influences children, should a child read this fairy tale? (and of course, why or why not?)

Your thesis: A clear and focused main idea and thesis (this can be more than one sentence, but it should be clear) which mentions the fairy tale, the message(s), and your reaction to them. **This topic is deliberately
broad and open-ended; plan to narrow it down to one or two aspects of the fairy taleyou cannot address every
aspect of the story.**

A Caution about Summary: This paper should analyze the fairy tale for your audience; it should not simply be
a summary of the story. You can assume that your audience is at least somewhat familiar with the fairy tale.
So, you should only include information about the story that you think is necessary to support/explain your
analysis. Consider your audience to be someone with an interest in fairy talesa parent, for example. When
deciding how much information to include, remember that you should only include that which is needed to get
your point across to the audience.

integration.
