Summarize the practical implications for organizations (e.g., in terms of how best-practice guidelines for performance management and employee selection would differ) if employee performance had a Gaussian (normal) versus Power Law distribution. Be very specific as to what this means in terms of the similarities and differences in how the so-called star performers would be treated.

Purpose
Every job has its star performers: employees who substantially outperform their colleagues. One purpose of this assignment is to get you to think about best-practice guidelines for managing and selecting star performers. Another purpose is to get you to understand that the star performer phenomenon is ultimately a statistical one (believe it or not) and that the best-practice guidelines we propose will depend on our statistical assumptions.
Instructions
This assignment has two parts:
Part 1: Gaussian vs Power Law Distribution
Summarize the practical implications for organizations (e.g., in terms of how best-practice guidelines for performance management and employee selection would differ) if employee performance had a Gaussian (normal) versus Power Law distribution. Be very specific as to what this means in terms of the similarities and differences in how the so-called star performers would be treated.
Part 2:
Choose any one of the 5 studies conducted by OBoyle and Aguinis (2012) for further examination
Summarize the nature of the data used in that study and the conclusions reached by the authors from that study.
List the 7 measurement criteria outlined by Beck, Beatty, and Sackett (2014)
Indicate (with a brief explanation) the extent to which (e.g., low vs. moderate vs. high) each of Beck et al.s (2014) 7 measurement criteria is actually present in the OBoyle and Aguinis (2012) study you chose to summarize.
Accordingly, indicate whether you agree or disagree (and, in either case, why) with OBoyle and Aguiniss (2012) conclusion that the results from the study you examined actually suggest that employee performance has a Gaussian versus Power Law distribution.
Due Date
Submit this assignment as a Microsoft Word document that 2 – 3 double-spaced pages in length with double-spaced 12-point Times New Roman font with 1-inch margins. Be sure to cite and reference where appropriate (and in proper APA Style).
