Reading Response Papers
Each paper should demonstrate reading comprehension, articulate a thesis based on a question and offer evidence and argument to defend your thesis. Paper should be submitted via Blackboard by midnight on the day before the class.

Tips for writing this paper:

Read the text thoroughly, consider the prompt question, and then organize your thoughts and write a brief outline of your argument. This will help to keep you from going off on a tangent when your begin writing.
First paragraph: State in your own words what you think is the main idea of the reading and the point the author is making. Examine what sources or authority the author is relying upon. State your insight and point of view clearly.
Paragraph 2-3: Draw larger connections, drawing in other sources perhaps that support or contradict the authors point of view. Also, this is the place to make your argument based on your insights and ideas.
Paragraph 4-5: Wrap it up and show why your thesis is valid and defensible. Also consider any counter arguments to your thesis and address them briefly before making your final conclusion.
Finally, a reflection paper should include your own thoughts on the matter at hand and not just a restating of the authors ideas. What you think matters!
Read over your paper before submitting it. Ask a classmate to read it over to and give you feedback.
Bibliography and Citation: All quotations and paraphrases of ideas must be cited using either footnotes or in-text citations. A bibliography should be provided on a separate page. This is not part of the two-page limit.

Johnson references three German theologians, Jurgen Moltman, Dorothee Soelle and Johann Baptist Metz. Each sought to develop a credible theology and understanding of Christianity in a post- World War II Germany. Choose one of these theologians, describe their theological argument around suffering and the Christian mystery and provide your own response
