For your written assignment this semester you will be writing a paper on the Stanford Prison Experiment. This is a very famous case from the early 1970’s that involved students taking on the roles of “guard” and “prisoner” in a university dorm for several days. The experiment had to be shut down for reasons that will become clear once you read the article(s.) I have provided you with two links to articles under “Assignments.” One is by the actual person who conducted the experiment and the other is provided to give you a clearer, more concise explanation of what happened.
For this assignment you will read the articles and write a summary paper, including the methodology of the experiment, what they were trying to prove, what actually happened, and why the experiment had to be shut down. You will end the paper with what conclusions can be drawn from the experiment and your reaction to the experiment and outcome.
Your paper should be approximately 3-5 pages in length with standard one inch margins, 12 point font, in-text citations and should use the APA format. Anything in your paper that is not original content or that is not common knowledge should be properly cited (using the APA format) to avoid plagiarism. You will need a references page at the end of your paper (properly) citing the two articles for this assignment. If you have questions about what constitutes plagiarism or about the proper use of the APA format, please consult this website: https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/01/
