SEO Project | Part 1 – Category and Keyword Identification

1. Identify a specific category of small or local business (i.e. restaurant, coffee shop, pet store, fitness, event venue, vitamin shoppe) that you would access to conduct a keyword search.
2. Investigate the small or local business website and conduct research of the websites pages to ensure the product or service is described and how it will benefit the consumer. Review the following pages on the website:
-Home Page
-About Us
-Product
-Services
-Blogs
-Other relevant content pages
You will have to determine if the business category is viable based on the website pages. Keywords must be relevant to the site’s content. If the website is not, you may not be able to move forward with your research depending on the content available on the website and will have to select another website to research.
Make sure the website page has more than images and contains a minimum of 250-350 content related words on the page. The website needs to be able to provide enough content to conduct keyword research.
3.Investigate two competitors of your small or local business to compare to your business. Conduct research on the two business competitors websites to ensure the product or service is described and how it will benefit the consumer. Review the following pages on the website:
-Home Page
-About Us
-Product
-Services
-Blogs
-Other relevant content pages
Follow the same process to determine if the website is viable as you did for your selected business.
4. Submit a summary of your research by the specified deadline. The summary will include:
-Business name
-Website URL
-Description of product or service
-Number of website pages
List of two competitors and the competitors’ website URLs.
