Self-Directed Project/Paper

SELF-DIRECTED PROJECT / PAPER: A well-written and APA formatted paper will be required detailing how the student could apply the principles of self-directive behavior using the principles of behavior modification in the 10 step self-directed project in Watson / Tharp. The paper must include the following items in the paper, clearly identified and organized using APA formatted headings.
a. A report summary for each step of the Watson / Tharp project. Each step can be located at the back of each of the ten chapters in the book. The report / summary does not need to be lengthy, but should adequately and accurately reflect the student’s thought and participation in the project. This should be started the first week of class, and students should regularly participate in the steps throughout the course. There are ten steps to be completed in less than eight weeks.
b. The paper will include a section on how the student might help teach others to practice self-directed behavior using the principles learned through the Self-Directed Project as well as other content from the course. It MUST CLEARLY DEMONSTRATE the student’s understanding of several of the basic principles of behavior modification and how they might be applied to self-directed behavior.
c. The paper MUST include biblical principles including at least some discussion on free-will as it relates to behavior modification, and godly principles of self-control. This can be a separate section and/or incorporated into the part “b” or other sections of the paper, but must be clearly identifiable.
d. The paper must include at least three PROFESSIONAL sources (ideally research articles) in addition to the textbooks which may also be used for the paper. In fact, it is expected that students will reference the Watson / Tharp text extensively for this assignment, but additional research should also be incorporated into the writing with proper credit and citation.
e. There is no set number of pages, but it must be complete and thorough which will generally be at least 4-5 pages of text (plus the title, reference, and other extraneous pages). It should use well-organized headings, correct APA formatting, citations, title page, reference page, and other components required of professional and academic writing in APA style.

the book being used for the project is Watson, D.L., & Tharp, R.G. (2014). Self-directed behavior: Self-modification for personal
adjustment (10th ed.). Belmont, CA: Wadsworth. [ISBN: 978-1-285-07709-3]

This is the start of the actual assignment. I just need it completed.

I decided to narrow my personal goal to losing weight. I used to work out consistently but over a period of time I have slackened off. Over the past few years, my job has changed and I have a desk job with little to no movement now and I stopped working out consistently. Another pattern I have noticed is that I tend to overeat or eat junk food when I am bored, stressed, or studying. Being overweight has caused me to feel sluggish, full, and to have a weakened immune system. In order to conquer these goals, I would break my goal into subgoals such as exercising more, not purchasing junk food, and finding ways to reduce stress. My antecedents are changing jobs, being bored and being bored. This has caused my behavior which is eating unhealthy and little to no working out. The consequence of this behavior has led to weight gain and my target is to lose at least 25 pounds to reach my weight goal of 150lbs. My target behavior is to eat healthier, exercise more, find ways to reduce stress, and be more productive so that I am not bored.
