I need a speech written for my daughter as she is applying for the School captain position. The speech should be presented in the school assembly. The targeted audience is all primary school staff including principal class and graders from perp-year six. The candidates will be chosen according to a voting system in which all the parties mentioned above are included. So, the speech should be advanced enough to appeal to the principal class and the teachers and also, it should hook the little listeners of prep to six. The best of my knowledge and her previous experience as a Junior Student Council member, the humour was a major key to attract the audience of younger students in which they will be easily bored by many speeches read.
The speech should majorly include,
1. why she wants to apply for the position
2. what she is planning to bring to school
Herewith I am attaching a speech written by my daughter, which we think needs some more improvement.
When writing you can refer to school website to get an understanding of the school, which is https://eppingviewsps.vic.edu.au/
When portraying my daughter and her strengths,
1. included in VIctorian High Ability Program
2. Numeracy extension program
3.Representedschool at MAV (Maths Association Australia) and Gate ways- maths on the loose
4. Participated workshops for leadership and student election, super speakers
5. Swimming
6. Sri Lankan traditional dancing (presented in Australian TV)
7. Currently working on a short story collection to be published
8. Represented school in Zart Art competition and Whittlesea council
9. Got double promotion in to skip Kindergarten and go to grade 1 dorectly
But majorly what she is planning to do as a school captain should be highlighted in the speech.
Since the school is multicultural with 56 language backgrounds,
her plans may include,
1.A program to bring them together and understand each other’s cultures like Dewali and Eid celebration
2. Bell music with different songs representing different cultures
3. Create a support system and help students arriving from other schools and overseas to positively face cultural tension such as by a buddy system
3. Currently, as a high learner she is assisting her classmates in their earning , maybe some kind of a support system like that over the school.
4. School values – to enhance
Or any other achievable thing you may add. For example, in her JSC application last time, she suggested a dress up day where girls dress up as boys and boys dress up as girls. She included how the principles can participate in it too. It was a major reason for the success of the speech.
