Responding to my classmate post. NR-532 week4

I have to respond to my classmate post. This is what she wrote. In reviewing my organizations policies regarding inclusion and equity, these policies lay the foundation in bringing diversity to the forefront. Inclusion highlights and brings to life the concept and practice of diversity into being, by actions of creating environments of involvement, respect, and connection (Poppas, 2020). These policies support helping patients, employees, keeping teams engaged, and enhancing the patient experience. In reviewing the policies, I was surprised to learn of the many different initiatives and policies that are in place to promote diversity and inclusion. One such is the Business Employee Resource Group, which was established to enhance engagement, innovation, talent development, and promote an inclusive culture. In reviewing the many different diverse groups, though this is helpful for groups such as Asians, Black/African American, Latin, and Jewish segments, it is vitally important to have professional groups such Registered nurses segments based on area of specialty. This would allow group members to identify with and be apart of such segment in supporting the spiritual and ethical values of each other and communities from which we come to be better prepared to serve in a culturally sensitive environment. The complexity of patient care and the social determinants of health in interwoven into the threads of culture, race, environment, and socioeconomic backgrounds. The general policies does cover all aspects of diversity and inclusion, but leaves the caregiver vulnerable, as personal insights and knowledge are not shared by nurses on the frontlines, but could be beneficial to a team of people to provide better patient care in valuing differences and finding common ground for both staff and patients.
