This assignment is designed to help you organize the structure and the content of your research essay. Your outline will include a draft of your introduction and thesis statement, and an outline of each body paragraph you plan to write that comprises your topic sentences, evidence from the text you plan to use, and citations from the scholarly sources you plan to integrate into your argument.
Write a detailed outline that includes:
a. A full introduction
b. A description of each body paragraph in which you bullet point:
–The paragraphs topic sentence (use complete sentences)
–The quotation(s) you plan to use in that paragraph, whether they be from the primary text or secondary sources; alternatively, if you are writing on film or television, describe the scene(s) you will be focusing on in the paragraph.
–Your explanation of what is important about the scene/quotation and how you will use it to support the claim you make in your topic sentence.
Overall essay prompt: For this essay, you will synthesize your own insights about a text that we have read with the analyses of at least two other scholars. Scholarly work may include letters, journals, and interviews with the author of your chosen text, theoretical works that discuss themes present within the text, and/or literary analyses of the text.

I have already written a detailed bibliography for the research paper that includes the works I will cite as well as what parts of their arguments I will use within my own. I have also attached a “letter” of ideas I tend to incorporate in the research paper. For this assignment, since it’s only two pages, we are required to have a detailed outline as expressed above. I am looking to get help writing a good introduction paragraph with a clear thesis, and for topic sentences to get an idea of where the paper should go. If something is not clear enough or vague I will probably ask for some help rewriting it again since it has to be specific.
