Racism in the Sports Industry

PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY:
This is the final paper for this class. I’m attaching the case study proposal that I had submitted WITH the professors feedback in the annotations, so PLEASE kindly keep that in mind as well as there’s some valuable feedback on how to improve the paper and what to incorporate. one of his key feedback was: “This review requires you to also look at the literature and scholarly articles around cultivation theory. What is it, why is it relevant to this case. You need to incorporate that into the final case study. ”

Furthermore i’m also attaching the full table rubric for the grading as well as a screenshot so do look at that as well. The key theory in focus is “cultivation theory” and “agenda setting” as well so this needs to be the key focus throughout the paper. The case study proposal i submitted is already 5 pages (not including title page + ref). The final paper . For the proposal I needed 5 cited sources but for the final i need a minimum of 10, so since ur building up the case study just add 4 pages more ( i can’t ask you to do 6 as its not in my budget, so i can do the last 2 pages).

Case Study Paper

The purpose of this project is to link theoretical/scholarly material about media effects and content to a real world case. You will select a case of interest to you that recently played out via some type of media channel. This could include traditional news outlets, the blogosphere, various social media outlets, or some combination of these channels.

You will then critique and analyze the case from the theoretical frameworks and perspectives in the scholarly literature you have chosen. Your case study should conclude with a summary of lessons learned from the case and/or any communications recommendations you have for how the individuals and/or organizations involved could have used media more strategically to realize more favorable outcomes.

The final paper/project should have a minimum of 10 pages and a maximum of 15 pages of double-spaced text, not including the cover page or references. (50 points).

Please make sure the body of your case study paper includes all of the following components:

Paper Components:

1. Introduction: Describes overall purpose of paper (includes description of case for background/context; briefly previews type of media content that will be analyzed and theoretical/scholarly literature that will be used; makes argument for why that area of scholarly literature is best suited to understanding the case).

2. Literature Review: Summary of theoretical/scholarly literature reviewed for the case (at least 10 sources cited).

3. Media Review: Identifies media content analyzed; provides rationale for media content selected; describes how media content was collected; briefly identifies qualitative content analysis as the method of data analysis.

4. Results: Qualitative analysis of media content that is clearly guided by the theoretical framework/scholarly literature reviewed for the case (e.g., if you reviewed crisis communication theories/principles, you should be analyzing your data to report if and how those principles were used; if you reviewed framing theory, you should be looking for types of frames used, etc.). Findings from analyzed media texts are written in a narrative/thematic/descriptive format with example quotes interspersed to serve as evidence.

5. Discussion: Provides comparisons/contrasts to previous literature and practical lessons learned and/or communications recommendations you have for how the individuals and/or organizations involved could have used media more strategically to realize more favorable outcomes.

Please review the grading rubric to see how your paper will be evaluated.
