his week you will be creating an Proposed Results and “Discussion” sections based upon the topic you have chosen for your research study. The proposed results section of a research proposal/project showcases possible comprehensive findings (with no discussion); given that you will not have created an actual project, you will simply be speculating the possible findings of your topic (based on the previous research you utilize). The discussion section of a research proposal/project is where the comprehensive findings are interpreted, evaluated, and implicated.
You will want to review required resources provided through the textbook and the GMC Library; any supplementary resources may be reviewed as well.
You can utilize some of the following resources to help you create your Method section as well:
Chapter 16 of Research Methods for the Beh Sci textbook specifically, the Results label (pg. 436) and the “Discussion” label (pg. 436-438)
Appendix D of Research Methods for the Beh. Sci. textbook specifically, Sample Paper: Results (pg. 508)
Appendix D of Research Methods for the Beh. Sci. textbook specifically, Sample Paper: Discussion (pg. 508-509)
Sample Research Paper located under the Important Course Information label in the main Moodle course.
Other resources do exist, and you are free to look up anything else that may help you.
In order to tackle the Proposed Results and Discussion sections, keep in mind some things you want to make sure you address:
Proposed Results. Remember, since this is not something that has occurred in real time, you are simply showcasing what the results may look like (future tense); however, you do want to think about what other research has shown. Does your hypothesis/hypotheses fall in line with what your proposed results are?
Discussion. Again, because this has not occurred in real time, you are simply speculating what the results would be further in depth. In your discussion, you will interpret results, evaluate results, and showcase the implications. Ask yourself questions like: what would the meaning behind these results be?; what would these results imply?; and why would these results be important?
Limitations. What are the possible limitations that could exist based on what results youve proposed? Are the limitations that exist within the research?
Future Research. What are some other things you could do with this research if your findings are shown? What if your findings aren’t shown?
Take home message. This should be your wrap up sentence as to why this information is important!
You will need to create a title page, a references page, and utilize in-text citations!
