Prom Queen

These are the directions from my instructor on how to structure the analysis paper. The following music video is the topic of the paper. If there is anything that you want to add that you think will fit into an analysis paper feel free to do whatever. I just wanted to include these so you can get idea of what it is.

Music video: https://youtu.be/dc6SSu5pnHw

Body paragraphs grouped by overall description, then analysis:
Introduction: Introduce the music video, its context (when/where published), audience, and purpose. You could also put a thesis statement here explaining your overall interpretation of the song’s message and effectiveness.
Body paragraph: Overall summary of the song and description of the music video
Body paragraph(s): Analyze the video and song (if you have several points to make, break these into multiple paragraphs)
Conclusion: State or restate your thesis and summarize your main points. You could also connect the music video to a wider social/political/cultural context. Try not to bring up new analytical points that you didn’t already discuss in your body paragraphs.
Body paragraphs are grouped by topic, with each paragraph containing description and analysis of that topic:
Introduction: Introduce the music video, its context (when/where published), audience, and purpose. You could also put a thesis statement here explaining your overall interpretation of the song’s message and effectiveness.
Body paragraph 1: Describe and analyze one element of the music video (for example, the people depicted)
Body paragraph 2: Describe and analyze another element of the ad (for example, the lyrics)
Body paragraph 3: Describe and analyze another element of the ad (for example, the colors and lighting)
Continue this pattern with additional body paragraphs
Conclusion: State or restate your thesis and summarize your main points. You could also connect the music video to a wider social/political/cultural context. Try not to bring up new analytical points that you didn’t already discuss in your body paragraphs
Introduction: In your first paragraph, you should introduce the music video and its context (when/where published and any other relevant historical/political contextual information). This is also a good place to identify the video’s audience and purpose. You may want to include a thesis statement here explaining your overall interpretation of the song’s message and outlining your paper’s method or focus. Your thesis should argue that the video should “be read or seen in a certain way.” See p. 134 for more information on coming up with a thesis. See p. 136 for more information on your introduction (“Draft a Beginning”).

Conclusion: In your conclusion paragraph, you should restate your thesis and explain what your analysis reveals about the music video you chose.
