Prior to the self-observation, you will write a summary of your current classroom management procedures.
Focus on the following objectives/goals: lesson introduction and closures, instructional l strategies, materials,
assessments, feedback, differentiated instruction, resources, and higher order thinking skills. Use the questions
from Part 1: Outline of Current Procedures to guide your summary. This summary will be the first part of your
3-part paper.
Part 1: Outline of Current Procedures, Part 2: Classroom Observation
, and Part 3: Analysis and Reflection. This assignment must be submitted as an attachment in Canvas. The rubric used to assess the assignment should
be a guide for your paper.
Part 1: Pre-Observation/Summary of Current Procedures (See Rubric Indicator 1)
Use the following questions to write an outline of your current procedures. Complete the interview prior to
the observation to provide additional insight into the teacher’s planning practices. Discuss these questions in
the pre-observation component of the paper. Ask yourself the following questions:
1. How do I plan lessons?
2. What type of activities do I provide students who complete their work ahead of schedule?
3. How do I plan for students who need remediation and/or enrichment?
4. What types of resource materials/technology do I use?
5. How do I encourage critical thinking and writing in my classroom?
6. How do I use assessment results to plan for re-teaching the content or for moving on in the curriculum?
The observation suppose to be done in a 3rd grade ELA class and the lesson was on main idea. The desk is lined up in a row and a smart board is used to teach the lesson along with the text book called Ready.
