A Microtheme is a short writing exercise (at least 750 words) with a “thesis-based” objective: taking a stand and defending it. Your claim for this Microtheme is that someone from your own personal life changes their masks (“personas” as defined by Carl Jung). Your writing task is to clearly portray two “changes of appearance” that your subject goes through when their situation changes. Make sure to provide the DeLuca/Page 4 Writing/Speaking Guidelines evidence that proves their transformations by focusing on their voice, movement, gesture, facial expressions, and clothing, and not only on their psychological behavior for each mask. Do not write about your own masks. Be objective in describing your subject’s use of personas.
