As many of you probably heard over the weekend, the Supreme Court made a landmark decision to overturn the Roe vs. Wade decision. This means that states are now able to decide whether or not women will have access to abortions. Since Friday, 11 states now have abortion bans in effect. (Links to an external site.) Clarance Thomas has since published his opinion saying that same sex marriage rights and contraception rights (Links to an external site.)may be next to be overturned.
This extra credit assignment asks you to consider how you think decision this will affect society. I am not asking you to write about your opinion on abortion. Rather, I am asking you to consider how this change will affect society at large. Consider factors like: families, economies, healthcare, women, men, education, and the criminal justice system.
