Overpopulation and the Fate of Humans

Watch this TED Talk by science journalist Charles C. Mann. Is he right when he say’s we are not using our shared knowledge to gurantee our long-term prosperity? Give you opinion on how likely it is that humans will suffer the same sad fate as protozoa in a Petri dish? Consider the following concepts while formulating your opinion: r-selected species versus k-selected species, carrying capacity, and succession in a forest until a stable climax community is reached. And there is a reason why farmers grow cereals (wheat, etc), which are r-selected grasses rather than tree crops, which are k-selected. Also look up a bet that was made between Paul Ehrlich and Julian Simon.
