Consider the following concepts while formulating your opinion: r-selected species versus k-selected species, carrying capacity, and succession in a forest until a stable climax community is reached. And there is a reason why farmers grow cereals (wheat, etc), which are r-selected grasses rather than tree crops, which are k-selected.
