This project must include:
Title Page
1.) Your title page will include the following: your name, CJ303, Date, and Criminal Justice Organization and Administration Project (Name of Agency). The text should be centered on the page and there should be no page number or header.
2.) Introduction: You will introduce your agency and its mission statement. Identify the type of agency that it is and how it fits into the criminal justice system. It is okay to copy the mission statement into your report, but you will also need to explain it further.
3.) Organizational Hierarchy: You will explain the levels of supervision in the organization that you have chosen. Begin with the leader. Who are they? How were they chosen for the position? What are the required qualifications for the person who holds this job? What are the responsibilities of the person in this position? If you cannot find agency-specific information, locate sources that provide general information on these topics. Go down the organizational chart and do the same for each level, though you dont need to get as specific with the individual information as you do with the orgs top position. This section should give me a clear picture of each level of the organization and how the pieces fit together. You should discuss the span of control for each level of the organizational hierarchy, identifying those under the direct and indirect span of control for each individual level. Tie in the concept of the unity of command with this discussion.
4.) Identify Potential Issues: What potential issues can you identify with the way that this organization is laid out? How might these issues lead to bigger problems? These issues can relate to any area that we have covered, including communications, conflicts of interest, potential ethical issues, work overload, and organizational theory.
5.) Suggestions for reorganization: Identify parts of the structure that you feel can be improved upon. What could be moved around or altered that would improve upon the organizational design? Explain how these changes would be improvements.
6.) Citations should be in APA or ASA format. Your paper does not need to be formatted in any particular style, but a title page, page numbers, and citations (both in-text and works cited list) are required. In-text citations are required wherever you have borrowed information. All sources must be listed on your works cited page. Citations are included where needed and are formatted in APA or ASA style.
