As we saw in Unit 2, visual and multimedia arguments are also ways to express our perspective on a topic. For this project, you will convey your argument from one of our previous essays in the form of a multimedia presentation. You will make use of a visual and/or media aides to help illustrate and elaborate on your points, including Google Slides, Prezi, or Powerpoint. Using images, videos, music, and text, youll explain your argument, focusing on the key features of it and providing your audience with another way to engaging with it.
Take advantage of the emotional or logical power that media has – images carry a lot of emotional weight, colors and font bring up certain ideas in a viewer, a short video may help illustrate an example otherwise difficult to explain in words. These rhetorical choices carry just as much impact as your words, so take time to craft an engaging and effective use of media and visuals.
Your presentation will:
Need to be presenting the same argument from your chosen essay (Essay 1, 2, 3, or 4)
Remember though: dont just copy and paste your entire essay into this presentation. Feature each main idea of your argument on separate slides in a summarized, condensed format that quickly gets to the heart of your idea
Feature 6-12 slides
Include a minimum of 4 media examples (i.e. videos, images, music, etc.) to help illustrate and/or support your argument (These can be the same as the ones you mention in the essay, as well as additional ones)
Any outside sources used as evidence will need to be cited by including a direct link to the source as well as appropriate citation information
Given that this is the same argument and general content from the essay, no new information or research is required (if you do want to include new points or sources, you’re welcome to do so. Just make sure to provide a link to these new sources)
Include your name, course, and date in the Title slide
Like all arguments, textual or media-based, everything is there for a reason. In a short, 1 – 2 page response, youll need to explain why you made the stylistic and rhetorical choices featured in your presentation. Why this image? How does this song help support your point?
