One of the main aspects of any research is the theoretical foundation or framework upon which your research is based. In many cases, research is based on what can be described as ‘deficit-based’ and often pathologizing the very communities that we wish to help. However, there are some frameworks that present a different lens, i.e. Appreciative Inquiry, Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD), Grounded Theory, and others.
