Apply Mayer’s Wheel of Conflict to the first sequence of scenes in Qui Ju. Identify the human needs at the center of the conflict, and discuss how the five basic forces or sources of conflict identified by Mayer apply to this conflict. In your discussion, touch briefly on the three dimensions of conflict: cognitive, behavioral, and emotional.
Next, choose three of the specific concepts we learned during Week 2 and discuss how each affects the conflict’s genesis and/or development. Concepts’ refers to the central issues we have identified as affecting parties’ psychological, cognitive and emotional states during the conflict. Some examples would be attribution’, anger’, emotional hijacking’, avoidance patterns, ‘engagement approaches,’ etc.
