Project Overview
In this project, you will create an academic research paper which links Mexican-American history to
current events.
The Assignment
Using your knowledge of Mexican-American history, write a thesis-driven formal academic research paper,
which links one of the topics below to a current societal issue. Your paper must be a minimum of 1,500 to
3,000 words in length, approximately 6-12 pages, written in MLA format, and include three cited
references. You are writing for an academic audience who has little or no experience/ direct knowledge of
the topic that you are examining. A research paper proposal must be approved by instructor prior to
beginning research.
