INSTRUCTIONS:
Research Paper:
Write a 5 or 6-page paper, double-spaced, 12-point font. Begin the paper by stating your argument (I argue that, or I believe that). Select 8-10 sources (5 from course materials-Readings, Lecture, Films, Discussion, and 3-5 sources from outside academic articles, magazine articles, blogposts, films, YouTube clips, etc.). Use your sources to support your argument, citing your quotes in the body of the paper (Ossman, 2013: 34). Include a Works Cited page at the end of the paper, ensuring your reference sources are written in a proper format (MLA, Chicago, etc.). Your paper should be written in a professional manner,
Because it is important that students turning in projects show their engagement with research material, an Annotated Bibliography of at least eight to ten (8-10) sources must be included. Of these sources, no more than two (2) may be website resources. All others must be appropriate, scholarly, peer reviewed materials and must include at least five (5) sources from course materials. The annotated bibliography must be in a proper format of your choice. Guides to scholarly sources and formatting citations are available through the universitys Writing Center. We will provide an example of an annotated bibliography later in the course. Please consider the following definition:
An annotated bibliography is a list of citations to books, articles, and documents. Each citation is followed by a brief (usually about 150 words) descriptive and evaluative paragraph, the annotation. (https://guides.library.cornell.edu/annotatedbibliography) The annotations should include the relevance of the source, answering the questions: a) What is the major point of the source? And b) How does it strengthen or apply to your point or argument.
Citations and References. Cite your references with in-text parentheticals. [EXAMPLE: (Ossman 2013: 105).] Both course materials and any outside sources should be cited and referenced in a Works Cited page or the Annotated Bibliography.
