Kant articulates the categorical imperative in two main ways: 1. Don’t take actions that are based on maxims you could not will everyone to follow all the time; and 2) Treat humanity as an end, never as a mere means. Kant then goes on to say that these rules are actually the same thing — that is, you will end up making the same moral decisions and taking the same actions regardless of whether you follow #1 or #2. Give an example of an action that violates both versions of the categorical imperative and explain why it violates them. Can you think of an action that violates one but not the other? (That is, do you think Kant could be wrocixng when he says they are really the same rule?)
