Book Review: Choose any book that interests you. Ensure that it is an appropriate reading level and that it is in English.
Give a review of the book.
Should be approximately 1,000-1,500 words in length. A good review should give the reader an overall idea of what the book is about, it should be both comprehensive, yet concise.

The components should be as follows:
1. Title

2. Introduction – your intro should be one paragraph long and contain background information and some significant
facts. Be sure to include a strong thesis statement.

3. Body or Summary – you should make one or two paragraphs with a general summary of the text’s contents, one
paragraph on the book’s weak points and one paragraph on its strengths

4. Analysis and evaluation – this part provides critical commentary and defines how well the author has reached the
objectives he or she had. This section should answer the following questions.
Is the author’s style effective, hard to perceive, engaging, and/or powerful?
What do you think the author’s goals of writing were? Did the author achieve set goals?
How can we evaluate the overall impression from the text (did you find it dull, engaging, fun, moving?)
What are the strengths and weaknesses of the text, are the author’s arguments convincing?
Would you recommend this book?

Conclusion – The concluding paragraph is a brief section that should restate the thesis statement in a clear logical
manner. Define whether readers should read the book. Make sure your conclusion is tightly bound to your thesis.
Once finished, your review should do three things: give the reader a summary of the book’s content, give the reader an
idea about your impressions of the content using critical assessment, and finally give the reader a suggestion as to
whether or not they should read the book.
