The following link is to a video about juveniles sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole and a Supreme Court case that determined such sentences to be unconstitutional. After watching the documentary, write a two page paper discussing the following points:
1. Are such sentences cruel and unusual punishment, as defined under the law, or should these juveniles serve the sentences they received at trial?
2. Is justice served and are people rehabilitated through long periods of incarceration?
You response to the assignment should be a minimum of four pages in order to address the questions completely and with detailed explanations of the facts. Under no cirmstances should your response include a retelling of the facts of the case. You are to analyze the facts, explain each part of your answer in detail and use examples where appropriate to do so. In order to do a good job on this assignment, you may have to write more than a four page response to the questions so do not limit yourself to four pages if your response requires more pages to fully address the questions.
As with all assignments, you must write in 12 point font size, double-space your paper.
