Papers may be on any topic involving analysis and interpretation of Paradise Lost. Plot points may be used
in the paper if they are interpreted, but the paper must not simply summarize the plot. The length of the paper is to
be 800-1000 words (four to five pages). Students must cite a minimum of two outside sources of published (not
website) literary criticism of Paradise Lost in the paper. These sources must be documented properly, in accord
with MLA style (see below for minimal instruction on it; see the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers for
more information). Website sources may be used in addition to the specified number of published sources, but not
instead of these published sources (which include books and articles in literary journals).
