OVERVIEW
Throughout the course of the semester you have had the ability to develop a deep understanding of key issues in public health theory. As a public health professional, it is critical that you continuously reflect on your knowledge and competencies. Reflection provides the opportunity to examine your strengths and weaknesses, and it provides an opportunity to learn where professional growth is needed. Thus, for this discussion board, explain how you strengthened your competencies as a public health practitioner, and identify areas for professional growth.
In order to complete this discussion board, students will need to reflect on the following items: 1) Tools for Implementing an Evidenced-Based Approach in Public Health Practice and 2) BACH 5300 course level outcomes.
Core Competencies
Refer to the “Tools for implementing an evidenced based approach in Public Health Practice” article from Module One and identify two (2) tools that you believe you strengthened during this course. As a reminder, these tools may include: engaging the community, using data for community assessment, selecting an evidenced-based program, program-planning, and evaluation. When reflecting, be sure to address the following:
In what ways have you improved in each identified tool? What brought about these improvements (e.g., did you do any additional research, did you ask probing questions)? Please be specific.
How do you plan to continue your growth in these areas?
Outline the steps you will take to continue your growth as a public health professional (or will you implement public health concepts in your profession? If so, please describe how you plan to do this).
