The Impact of Barrier Syndrome(s) on Workplace Organizational Communication
Problem Statement:
Known problematic behaviors in the workplace among subordinates, managers, and peers can be attributed to barrier syndromes like the queen bee, tiara, imposter, glass ceiling, and others, and have an impact on workplace communication between peers, supervisors, and subordinates. While there is some research on these phenomena in the workplace, a more specific understanding of each syndrome is necessary in order to effectively determine the impact on workplace communication and develop strategies to enhance productive communication.
Research Questions:
RQ1: What are the causes of workplace barrier syndromes specifically among women in the workplace?
RQ2: Which of the syndromes has the greatest negative influence on workplace communication?
RQ3: Which workplace strategies can be implemented to prevent the influence of barrier syndrome(s)?
