Annotated Bibliography
The Annotated Bibliography will require the student to choose a topic related to a specific field of interest covered in the General Psychology course.
Examples include: Authoritative parenting and Its Impact on a Childs Learning Style, Stress and Its Impact on Work Performance, Child Obesity and Its Relationship to Self Esteem, Alcohol Abuse and Its Relationship to Divorce Rates
The student will be required to locate and provide 5 references from APPROPRIATE research journals and to provide an annotated bibliography of at least 5 pages including a cover page and reference page using the proper APA format. APPROPRIATE journals and periodicals can be found in the Galveston
The annotated bibliography is intended to enhance the students learning about psychology and to encourage critical thinking and application of psychological concepts. The assignment will introduce the student to psychological theory, research, and terminology. The assignment must be completed using Standard American English, appropriate grammar and should not be constructed through the use of cutting and pasting.
The annotation of each reference must address the following:
Brief summary of the article
Identify and explain the scientific research method used including the independent and dependent variables, statistical method used, design, results and discussion
Is the article current?
Is the article peer reviewed?
Is the research biased or objective?
Who is the author and is he/she/they qualified to write about the topic?
Are the facts well documented? How?
Is the source scholarly, popular or both and why?
Is the source relevant to your research topic? If yes, why?
The student may choose any article of interest from a periodical titled JOURNAL of …. The article must have the required sections of Method, Design, Results and Discussion. The assignment will be graded on the following criteria:
a. selection of relevant journal articles 25pts
b. proper APA format 20 pts
c. addressed all required questions 25 pts
d. coherent / readable 20pts
e. presentation / effort 10pts
