Identify an existing school policy that you deem to be detrimental to the development of youth identity and/or agency with
abstinence-only sex education. Your chosen policy will become the focus of a 5 to 6-page analysis paper. Begin your paper by providing
background information on the purpose of this policy (what issue is the policy attempting to solve? How does this policy function in
practice?). Next, clearly address why you think this particular policy is detrimental to youth in schools (why should this policy be changed?
what are the intended and unintended consequences of this policy?). Outline an alternative plan(s) that can address the initial issue, while
creating better conditions for the positive development of youth identity and/or agency (what are some of the opportunities and obstacles
your plan(s) may encounter?). Be specific in both your critique of the chosen school policy and your discussion of your alternative plan(s). The analysis throughout the paper should be guided by 1 or 2 course concepts/theories. Make sure to utilize a minimum of 4 course readings as well any necessary outsider research sources to support your arguments.
