For the final, you are to answer only two of the three questions below, each in a 3-4 page, typed, double spaced essay. Ultimately, your entire essay will number a total of 6-8 pages.

However, they must be presented as formal essays. To complete the exam, use your own words to answer the questions. Do not quote and do not mention any recourses in paper.

2. How important was conflict in the development of North America? In what ways did politics, religion, and warfare play a role? Was conflict essential in the creation of what would become the United States?

3. Did the colonization of North America lead to a great deal of suffering? How might this have been apparent among European settlers, African Americans, and Native Americans? Was suffering a common experience in all the colonies that had been established by Europeans?
