Historiography Essay

Would be helpful to read Silencing the Past and write an historiographical essay of approximately 2000 words.

The essay is based off of these questions and the book above just goes along with it. Not a must.

Historiography Essay is on the following questions:

1. How do Canadian historians silence the past?

2. Why is it important to increase our understanding of pre-confederation Canadian history?

3. How has the study of history advanced in the past century? Where have we increased our knowledge of Canada? What else do we need to look for?

4. Evaluate the ways in which historians today can enlighten or obscure our understanding of the past.

5. Your essay should include a thesis, a well-developed argument throughout the paper, and complete citation throughout. See the grading rubric.

Citation should be correctly formatted according to the Chicago Manual of Style.
