SAMHSA Grant Outline (100 points) In preparation for this assignment, you are expected to study and take notes on the assigned readings in Unit 4 (Weeks 11-14). We will use the SAMHSA Grant Application Manual resource (posted in D2L) as the model for this grant outline. For this assignment you will take on the pretend role of leading a local Human Services Organization. Your goal is to imagine a project you could propose for a particular population in your service area relevant to substance use prevention or treatment. Chapter 6 of the grant manual provides an in depth guide for addressing the areas assessed by SAMHSA when reviewing applications, which are listed below.
Population of Focus and Statement of Need
Proposed Implementation Approach
Proposed Evidence-Based Practices
Staff and Organizational Experience
Data Collection and Performance Measurement
To complete this assignment satisfactorily, you will use either PowerPoint or Word to draft an outline responding to each section of the project narrative listed above. It wont be possible to fully address each of the five sections since you dont have all the details available to you in this pretend scenario, however, using an outline format, you are expected to propose ideas in response to each section that could be viable. Refer to the SAMHSA manual for details on how to address each section. If you are creating a PowerPoint to outline your project narrative, expect to produce roughly 10-12 content slides. If you are using Word to outline your project narrative, expect to produce roughly 5 double-spaced pages. Take your time on this assignment. The more attention to detail you give, the easier you will find a grant writing process like this to be in the future. You will have until Wednesday of finals week to submit your final outline draft. Remember to always cite your sources in APA format. Credit will be lost if relevant citations are missing or citations arent following APA format.
