Introduction

Throughout the course of the semester youll have the opportunity to learn about some of the great authors and works that make up Chicana/o Literature. However, for the most part our focus has been on an individual work related to the author. This project will give you the opportunity to focus on a collection of works instead of just one. Doing this will give us a better understanding of the authors stylistic approaches as well as the cultural and social themes that appear in their work. Because this is an online course, this assignment will encourage you to create a presentation that is based on an online format, thus giving you experience in articulating your ideas in new and dynamic ways.

The Assignment

Choose one of the topics from the topic list below. Youll have a chance to choose from writers who have published more than one significant text throughout their literary career. You will also be able to choose from specific writers collectives (a group of writers who share similar styles, themes, and objectives). Once youve chosen your topic you will develop an online presentation that will be shared with the class.

The Prompt

Create an informal presentation on your topic that focuses on a biography/history of your writer/collective as well as an analysis of the writers work overall. Your presentation should be organized into three main categories:

Biography of Author or History of the Collective
Description and Analysis of Authors Body of Works
Legacy/Impact of Author to Chicana/o and/or American Literature

Because this is an online class you have a larger variety of modes that you can use for your presentation. Here is where you can insert some creativity into your project: Choose one of the modalities below for your project:

Slide-show Presentation: Using software such as PowerPoint, Prezi, or Keynote, create a presentation that addresses your prompt:

Presentation must contain a minimum of 8 to 15 slides
Presentation must include voice-over narration
Presentations must include a minimum of 5 images.
