1) Explain the Native American experience before European colonist arrival. When did Indigenous people migrate to North America? How did they live? How did their systems of government (or lack thereof) differ from one another?
2) Explain life in the English, French, Dutch and Spanish colonies. Tell how they were similar and different. Make sure your answer includes mention of encomiendas, the caste system, headright system, and plantation systems. Be sure to make mention of the indentured servants and use of African slavery. Pay special attention to the English colony of Jamestown and the early struggles (from inner and outer forces) they faced.
3) 1675 and 1676 were tumultuous years in North America. Explain the troubles colonists and indigenous peoples faced. Be sure to include information on the Salem Witch trials, Metacoms War, the Pueblo Revolt and Bacons Rebellion.
4) Tell of the formation of the colonies. Make sure to include the restoration colonies, and a background on what restoration meant. Also talk about the creation of the Carolinas and Pennsylvania. Make sure to mention who the inhabitants of these colonies are, and where they originally came from. Also, talk about the turbulence in England at this time, and what it had to do with the dominion of New England.
5) For this question, turn your attention towards Slavery in America. Talk of the slave trade. Why were Africans the prime target for slavery? What made Africans more susceptible to kidnapping and enslavement? Really speak to the African world in this answer. Tell of the Middle Passage, as well as the harsh treatment and slave life in the colonies.
