Assignment instructions:
Part A: Analyse the people residing in Sydney Olympic Park community (city of parramatta), the relationship between those in the community and its Indigenous members. Do not just list statistics. Demonstrate understanding of community’s contemporary Indigenous people and the community’s cultural and historical Indigenous foundation.
– I have started writing this part and am hoping you can continue where I left off, please use the sources I’ve listed in the reference list to include ample research to back up claims, especially in Part B, the pedagogy section.
Part B: Explain Indigenous aligned teaching resources, activities, and strategies; explain why these resources/ activities are appropriate for the specific community (Indigenous and non-indigenous members) and wider Indigenous Australian community. Also include how these resources/ activities/ strategies align with the NSW curriculum and policy around Indigenous education and create a culturally inclusive learning environment for Indigenous and non-Indigenous students.
– Include research about the ‘8 ways’ pedagogy, I’ve listed a source for you to use. Also can include the ‘two way teaching and learning’ pedagogy. Also can include sense of creating ‘belongingness’ as an intro for the pedagogy section (Harrison, N.) is a good source and I’ve listed two solid ones in the reference list.
– Make sure to refer to how perspectives, ontologies and epistemologies of indigenous history and culture have skewed views of Indigenous Australians
– Mention avoiding cultural tokenism and how it is important as an educator to avoid it to provide inclusion in classroom
– Make references to the NSW syllabus/ australian curriculum, which are also sited in reference list.
Do not worry about Part C. I have added multiple sources for you to use in your writing, but please feel free to use any other research articles if needed to support your claims. I’ve attached the file of the paper I have started, so please continue on there. Thank you!
