Write a literacy narrative to explore this question. Select one or more key connected experiences that you think best illustrate how you became the writer you are today.

You might want to focus on a particular person who influenced you, or on events–in or out of school–that shaped your writing attitudes and practices. Your focus could also be about learning English as a new language and your experiences writing in this new language.

In addition to telling a story, your narrative should make a larger point about learning to write that will be of interest to your readers. This larger point will be your essay’s thesis, and some version of it should appear in your opening paragraph.
