SIGNATURE ASSIGNMENT- WEEK 8
The Cultural Communication Paper is designed to help students master the Institutional Learning
Outcome (ILO) for Global Cultures. The description of this ILO is: Explain the relationship
between a global issue and the history, values, politics, economy, communication styles, or
beliefs and practices of one or more cultures affected by that issue.
For this assignment, you will be required to compare and contrast communication styles of
different high and low context cultures, describe how you would interview a person of interest in
a cybercrime case in both contexts, identify communication barriers, and develop strategies to
minimize those barriers. Lastly, you will identify your preferred style of communication.
Cybercrime is considered to be a global issue.
Instructions:
This assignment is worth 200 points. You are required to prepare and submit a 1,500-2,000-word
paper addressing all the specific components below. Be sure to fully and completely answer all
components. Use the headings below for each section. You are required to provide an
introduction and a conclusion (see requirements below). You are expected to use your textbook
and find sources (books, videos, etc.) that support your points of view. You should have at least
five references.
Your paper should reflect thought, preparation and organization. Also, please be sure to review
the rubric included for this assignment so that you will have a clear understanding of how you
will be graded for this assignment. The rubric is located in the Course Information section of the
course.

1. Introduction
a. Provide a purpose statement for your paper. This is an introductory sentence that
explains what the paper is about the main points of analysis.
b. Include a quick overview of the main points of the paper.
2. Low and High Context Communication Styles
a. Identify low and high context communication styles.
b. Compare and contrast low and high communication styles.
c. Explain how you would interview someone who is a person of interest in a cybercrime
case who demonstrates a low context communication style.
d. Explain how you would interview someone who is a person of interest in a cybercrime
case who demonstrates a high context communication style.
3. Personal Insight
a. Identify your personal communication style (low or high context) and provide rationale
for your identification.
b. Analyze what you learned about your own communication style from this assignment.
4. Conclusion
a. Provide a brief summary of the major points of the paper
The paper will be typed double spaced in Arial using 12-point font with 1 margins in APA
format. Make sure to reference any source you used in APA format. Make sure to proofread your
work and ensure there are no academic integrity concerns. Save your paper as a .doc with your
name and the assignment name in the file, using Last Name_Assignment. So, if your name were
Alicia Jackson, and this is the ILO Signature Assignment, you would title it
Jackson_ILOSignatureAssignment.
