The first paper is a formal academic paper on a topic assigned by the instructor. It should be 2-3 pages of content in length, and use carefully chosen and correctly integrated evidence to develop the topic introduced in the paper thoroughly to a detailed and logical conclusion. The paper will also include separate additional pages for the title, abstract and references. It must follow APA conventions, and utilize quality academic sources from reliable, accurate websites and professional journal articles found in the City University Library database.
The style of this paper requires that students will be able to describe problems / solutions, causes/effects, and steps in a process. These organizational styles are useful for business and technical writers in graduate programs, as well as in the workplace. The topic for this paper is the microchip: why and how it was developed, how it works, and its lasting legacy in the technology of today. Students must use a minimum of 3 credible sources, and must address all areas of the topic as shown in the outline below:
