Using our sociological imagination, we are better able to notice the ways in which technology changes our social behavior; how to better explore the significance of social inequality; speak across race, gender, and religious boundaries; and to highlight social, legal, economic, and political policies throughout societies.
During the Pandemic Era that has been in effect for more than a year now, the United States and other countries have been impacted in their interactions, behaviors, and relations. At the moment however, while COVID-19 has somewhat subsided, the United States is anxious to get back to business as usual.
As sociology students, and while recognizing the Coronavirus, kindly discuss what we as humans (regardless of nationality, race, religion, ethnicity, or gender) can or should do to improve our behavior toward each other, and society as a whole. How has social distancing impacted our interactions in the way we treat each other? In the United States, will violence – such as hate crimes – and divisiveness decrease or proliferate? As a tool, will Social Media be helpful or a hindrance to addressing this country’s human relations? Why? Why not? Explain.
