Students should avoid the use of you and other second tense pronouns.

Proper nouns (including product names) should be capitalized. All reports must be typed using Microsoft Word and double-spaced; the preferred font is Times Roman 12. Page numbers and the student name in a header/footer certainly are helpful to the reader.

This report (six nine pages) will discuss a current development within the accounting profession or a current development which will significantly affect the accounting profession. This report must be original and written specifically for this course.

1. Provide a brief but thorough description of the topic (1/2 page)

2. Discuss the significant aspects of the current development (4 to 5 pages). Explain the positive and negative aspects of the development as well as a general timetable for the implementation of the development.

3. Discuss the specific impact of the current development, if any, on the internship employer. The development does not have to specifically impact the internship firm. If not specifically applicable to the internship firm, state this and then discuss its applicability to business, generally, and to specific types of firms. (1 to 3 pages).

Works Cited. The report must have at least three different sources, and three will be considered average, not exemplary Internet sources are fine. In addition to the Works Cited list, in text MLA style citations are required.

In MLA style, referring to the works of others in text is done by using what is known as parenthetical citation. This method involves providing relevant source information in parentheses whenever a sentence uses a quotation or paraphrase. Usually, the simplest way to do this is to put all of the source information in parentheses at the end of the sentence (i.e., just before the period). However, as the examples below will illustrate, there are situations where it makes sense to put the parenthetical elsewhere in the sentence, or even to leave information out.

General Guidelines for MLA citation

The source information required in a parenthetical citation depends (1.) upon the source medium (e.g. Print, Web, DVD) and (2.) upon the sources entry on the Works Cited (bibliography) page.

Any source information that is provided in-text must correspond to the source information on the Works Cited page. More specifically, whatever signal word or phrase that is provided to the reader in the text must be the first thing that appears on the left-hand margin of the corresponding entry in the Works Cited List.
