(200+ words) Throughout the course we will examine the changes in family form but, “Why are families changing?” Sociologists talk about how both micro-level factors and macro-level factors impact the family and cause changes in family structure. For this discussion, discuss a factor that you think is currently influencing families. This “something” might be a news item, a piece of legislation, recent event, an invention or product, public opinion, etc. Explain how and why that influence is impacting families on both the micro- and macro-levels. Has the definition of family changed over time? How does the family function as a social institution? Also make sure to reply to other students this week.
