Ethical and legal concerns extend beyond the courtroom in psychology. The research endeavor is full of ethical considerations that need to be made. These include, but are not limited to, the participants understanding of the study, confidentiality, the right to refuse or withdraw from the study, how to ethically use rewards or compensation, informed consent, the use of deception, and debriefing. There are also a number of historical studies in psychology that violated these ethical concerns. Find one of these studies and look into the ethical concern it violated. Briefly describe the study, the ethical concern, how it was violated, and any important outcomes from the proceedings (new laws, guidelines, etc.). Be sure to use academic sources, including at least one academic journal in your research. Your description should be double-spaced, APA style (references do not count in page count).
