Essay on Nature vs. Nurture

One of the most compelling questions in the social sciences is what is called the Nature versus Nurture debate. At its core is the idea of how we have developed as human beings and as individuals. Is it our biological or genetic components that have the greatest influence (nature) or the environments in which we live and our experiences and interactions that outweigh our genetic history to influence our development (nurture)? Both sides have solid research and examples to back them up, as you can see as you review each unit. You will be drawing on information from each social science – anthropology, psychology, and sociology – so review each carefully. When you have decided what your stance will be in this debate, construct your thesis and then collect your evidence from your notes from the course. You will be creating three bodies of evidence, one from each of the social sciences of anthropology, psychology, and sociology. Your purpose is to convince your teacher and your colleagues of the argument presented in your thesis; so make sure all your supporting evidence provides clarity in the development of your argument in the essay.Write your thesis carefully. Provide an outline of what types of evidence you will be providing to support your thesis (i.e. theories, approaches, work of prominent social scientists, case studies, etc.); In one section, present your argument using specific, compelling details from what you have learned about the field of anthropology; In another section, present your argument using specific details from the psychology unit; In a third section, provide specific examples and details from the sociology unit that supports the argument in your thesis; In a final section, provide examples from everyday life around you and from your own experiences that further support the argument presented in your thesis. Note: No additional research should be required. You have enough information from the course to be able to complete this task. Should you find that you need to complete additional research, you must practice academic honesty and provide a reference section that cites any additional research completed, using APA format.
