The most likely situation I could see myself using social media to express or address emotions would be when interacting with family members. I cannot vision using social media for any purpose concerning emotions with friends or others.
Boredom is an emotion that people would suppress and not display their true feelings while a speaker is making a presentation. It would be rude for them to sigh or show discontent while they are speaking. Although difficult it would more acceptable and the norm to just try and show interest and hide emotions until the speech was over.
Sadness heartbroken. mournful sorrowful bitter
Anxiety – doubt — dread — apprehension — concern
Happiness upbeat merry jubilant – chipper
I felt like the additional information about emotions forces me to relook situations that occurred in my past where I know I withheld emotions without ever realizing why. I withheld many emotions, and I thought it was instinct but after reading this chapter, I realize it was more. Now that I better understand what emotional intelligence is, I feel it is very importance to embrace and learn to properly display emotions by realizing when, where or how emotions should be expressed. Emotional intelligence is a crucial factor because if we consistently displayed all the emotions, we were feeling at any given time without thought, others could be offended or hurt. I think emotional vocabulary and emotional intelligence go hand in hand to an extinct. A wide variety of emotional vocabulary helps with managing and understanding your emotions. Thus, paired with emotional intelligence, a person thoroughly thinks through and decides how to deal with emotions they are feeling.

. A situation where I would rather communicate emotions electronically instead of in person would be asking a friend to pay back money that he borrowed from me. I had to ask a good friend for the money that I loaned him while at an event this summer. I felt uncomfortable asking and angry that I had to ask. Asking for the money electronically meant that I did not have to look him in the face and see his reaction, especially if he did not have the money on him and it gave me more control over what I said and how I said it. This type of communication changes the whole dynamic of conversation whether it is $5 or $500 and makes it awkward for the person asking and for the person who owes the money may feel distressed because I had to ask for it
2. A rule/form of emotion that is not expressed in this chapter is confusion. The emotion of confusion became a norm as a way of expressing a misunderstanding or a need for further explanation. In certain situations, confusion is not expressed, in classroom environment when you dont understand something for fear of looking unintelligent. Portraying the emotion of confusion is important everyday conversation because it allows a person to ask questions to go further in depth in a conversation while still holding neutral ground. Confusion is also necessary to depict that you are actively listening to what a person has to say.
3.
A.) Sadness: (1) Sorrow, (2) Despair, (3) Misery, (4) Grieving
B.) Anxiety: (1) Worry, (2) Concern, (3) Unease, (4) Stressed
C.) Happiness: (1) Contentment, (2) Pleasure, (3) Joy, (4) Jubilation
4. Throughout the week of expanding my emotional vocabulary I noticed that whoever I was speaking with was more engaged in what I had to say as well as allowing a more in-depth conversation that would normally only scrape the surface. Having a more adequate emotional vocabulary does represent emotional intelligence because as mentioned above it paves a path for a more depth conversation and allows both sides a further understanding on how the other is feeling and less room for misinterpretation. The use I-language this week was extremely helpful in a stressful/confrontational situation that occurred in our house. My owning my emotions and actions the situation did not escalate and mutual understandings were more easily reached. By expressing my ownership and how I could feel better in a situation, the dialogue was constructive and opened the lines of communication.
