Refer to the Alice Bennett case file in Appendix B of our textbook. As part of the discovery process, we will need specific information from Darren Blackwood and Martina Yardley. Prepare a set of interrogatories for each witness. The goal is to draft questions that will prove Alice Bennett was discriminated against in violation of federal and state laws, which should be very familiar by now. However, if you have not dissected those laws, then you must do so before proceeding. If you don’t know what laws were violated, then you won’t know what questions to ask.
Each witness brings a unique perspective. Keep this in mind when outlining the specific evidence you want to extract from each individual. There is no magic number on how many questions need to be drafted. However, based on the case file and the complexity of the laws, each witness should be presented with several dozen questions (at least). Disregard any limitations placed by either federal or state rules of civil procedure.
