Using Chapter 12 and the file on congressional demographics posted in Unit 4, compare the demographic makeup of members of Congress to the general population. Does the make-up of Congress mirror that of the general public? Why or why not? To what extent does WHO serve in Congress impact the quality of representation? What lesson from the efforts of women in Congress can be learned for other underrepresented groups to secure substantive representation?
